By the end of July, the final electricity price for Spain's electricity-intensive industry reached €83.1 per megawatt-hour (MWh), equivalent to 1.5 times the French electricity price (€53.69/MWh) and 1.08 times the German price (€76.77/MWh). AEGE points out that Spanish electricity-intensive consumers bear the costs of system adjustment services, which are not included in the electricity price calculations in France and Germany, resulting in a competitiveness gap of more than €20/MWh.
The association also states that indirect CO2 compensation received by Germany's electricity-intensive industry is significantly higher than in Spain, where it is limited by the unavailability of budget. According to AEGE estimates, the compensation received by Germany's electricity-intensive industry exceeds that of Spain by a total of €21/MWh.
