FPUSA to Deploy Four Energy Storage Projects Totaling 230MW/920MWh in Texas, US
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Long-duration energy storage developer and investor Frontier Power USA (FPUSA) has exercised an exclusive option to secure four battery energy storage projects from clean energy developer Stella Energy Solutions. The four projects—Blanquilla, Aransas Pass, Nash, and Wallis—have a combined installed capacity of approximately 230MW and energy storage capacity of approximately 920MWh.

Confirmed information shows that the Blanquilla project is located in Nueces County, Texas, with an installed capacity of 201MW and is expected to commence operations in December 2027; the Aransas Pass project is also situated in Texas. The specific locations of the Nash and Wallis projects have not yet been finalized by Stella, though based on the distribution of its previous development projects, it is highly likely that both are located in Texas. Regarding the project locations, industry media had inquired with Stella Energy Solutions but received no response as of press time.
According to the plan, these projects will adopt Eos Energy Enterprises' Z3 zinc-based long-duration energy storage systems. The final completion of the entire transaction is also contingent on the success of the rights offering announced by Eos.
The four projects are the first batch of targets advanced by FPUSA and Stella under their strategic cooperation framework. This framework provides a pathway for Stella's projects in late-stage development with a total storage capacity exceeding 2GWh to enter the FPUSA platform, while designating Stella as FPUSA's execution partner.
The project portfolio will also draw on the 2GWh capacity reservation agreement previously signed between FPUSA and Eos. Upon the signing of the final agreements, FPUSA will provide 100% of the construction equity funding for the projects, with Stella continuing to serve as the execution partner until the projects achieve commercial operation.
FPUSA's equity contribution is based on the committed funds already disclosed by funds and accounts managed by Cerberus Capital Management, and is expected to be supported by the previously announced investment from Hudson Bay Capital as well as proceeds from the rights offering. In addition, KKR's capital markets division has been engaged to design a project financing solution for FPUSA's overall portfolio.
Frontier Power also has a presence in the UK market. In April 2025, the company announced a partnership with Eos Energy Enterprises to deploy zinc hybrid cathode battery energy storage systems with a capacity of up to 5GWh. To participate in the "cap and floor" revenue mechanism for long-duration energy storage introduced by the UK's Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem), Frontier Power has also partnered with Invinity, an Anglo-American joint venture manufacturer of vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFB). Under an agreement signed in February last year, the company secured access to 2GWh of Invinity's vanadium redox flow battery systems for bidding in this long-duration energy storage support scheme.
