Wedoany.com Report-Jun 7, Search4Solar, a Rotterdam-based platform specializing in trading solar panels, inverters, and batteries, has launched a large-scale program for secondhand solar modules. The initiative aims to promote the reuse of solar equipment to support sustainable energy solutions globally.
The company currently holds over 100,000 used solar panels in its inventory and is encouraging project developers, installers, and governments worldwide to adopt these second-life products. The first batch of 10,000 modules arrived in Rotterdam this month for quality inspection and is now available for immediate purchase.
These panels, ranging from 220 W to 245 W, were sourced from solar parks in Germany and are suitable for applications in rooftop systems, standalone projects, and installations in emerging markets. Search4Solar’s founder, Bart Wansink, stated: “The modules are immediately available at very competitive prices, with new shipments every month.”
Search4Solar’s approach emphasizes a circular economy model, encompassing logistics, decommissioning of solar parks across Europe, and rigorous testing in both in-house and external laboratories. The panels are stored in Rotterdam, ensuring efficient access for Central European markets, with global distribution facilitated by truck or container.
Wansink highlighted the program’s broader vision, saying: “Our long-term goal is to become the world’s most reliable source of verified secondhand solar panels. By reusing panels, we not only prevent waste, but we actively accelerate the global energy transition, especially in the places that need it most.”
The initiative is gaining momentum across Europe, aligning with efforts to reduce waste and enhance access to affordable solar technology. By repurposing high-quality secondhand panels, Search4Solar aims to contribute to sustainable energy development and support regions transitioning to renewable energy sources.
