en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 18, ENGIE North America signed a 48 MWac solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with data center operator QTS to power QTS's data center operations in Irving, Texas. The agreement is linked to a long-term PPA signed between ENGIE and independent power producer ABEI Energy for the Lubio Solar project.

The Lubio Solar project is located in Kaufman County, Texas, with an installed capacity of approximately 61 MWac. Developed by ABEI Energy, it is currently in the pre-commercial operation phase. The project is expected to be completed in April 2028 and will connect to the ERCOT grid. Once operational, it is projected to generate approximately 150 GWh of electricity annually, equivalent to avoiding approximately 100,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

QTS operates a data center campus in Irving spanning 55 acres, with three buildings providing a combined capacity of 147 MW. Travis Wright, Vice President of Energy and Sustainability at QTS, stated that this project represents a significant step in the company's renewable energy strategy, helping to support the long-term sustainability and operational resilience of QTS's business in Texas. Taymur Bunkheila, Regional Vice President at ENGIE North America, noted that data center customers continue to seek long-term, reliable renewable energy solutions.

This marks the first renewable energy transaction between ABEI Energy and ENGIE in the United States. ENGIE ranked first globally in BNEF's 2025 corporate renewable energy PPA rankings, having signed 3.6 GW in 2025 and a cumulative 13.8 GW since 2011.
