Tata Power Renewable Energy Commissions 72.5 MW Solar Power Plant in India
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned a 72.5 MW captive solar project for Tata Steel Limited. Located in Kalasar, Bikaner, Rajasthan, the project was developed through TP Vardhman Surya Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TPREL.

The project is expected to generate approximately 166 million units (166 MUs) of green power annually, offsetting around 118,856 tonnes of carbon emissions each year. The project uses 171,360 solar modules supplied by TP Solar Limited, the manufacturing arm of TPREL. The 72.5 MW capacity accounts for approximately 1% of TPREL's total commissioned renewable energy capacity of about 7 GW.
With this commissioning, TPREL's total renewable energy capacity has reached 12.3 GW. Of this, the commissioned portion stands at approximately 7 GW, comprising 5.7 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind; the under-construction portion is approximately 5.3 GW, comprising 2.2 GW of solar and 3.1 GW of wind, expected to be commissioned in phases over the next 6 to 24 months.
