Ampyr Inaugurates 96MW Solar Park in Netherlands

Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 13, Ampyr Solar Europe has officially inaugurated Solar Park Noordoostpolder, its largest solar facility in the Netherlands, with an installed capacity of 96MW. Covering 54 hectares and consisting of more than 159,000 panels, the project is designed to generate electricity for over 33,000 households annually while avoiding nearly 32,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.

The solar park is a key component of a 16km gigawatt-scale renewable corridor in the Noordoostpolder region. This corridor integrates solar plants, wind farms, and energy storage systems, all connected to a single TenneT substation. The project highlights an approach where multiple renewable energy technologies operate together to maximize efficiency and strengthen supply reliability.

Municipal alderman Van Amersfoort commented on the distinctiveness of the initiative: “The long ribbon of solar panels, set between the wind turbines, the IJsselmeer, and farmland… creates the image of a pioneering energy landscape. I am proud of the images already circulating, which to me are clear confirmation that we have done this right.” His remarks reflected local support and recognition of the project’s design integration with its natural and agricultural surroundings.

Ampyr Solar Europe’s chief executive Tarun Agrawal noted that the collaboration with partners “serves as a model for future projects.” He emphasized the company’s growing presence in the Dutch market, with a national pipeline exceeding 1GWp as part of its broader 7GWp European pipeline. The Noordoostpolder project marks a milestone in advancing Ampyr’s development strategy across Europe.

Among the buyers, Rockwool has signed a 10-year power supply agreement. Kenneth Rotvig Dupont, Rockwool’s energy category director, said the deal “delivers both certainty and stability” while representing “an important step in decarbonising Dutch industry.” Volkswagen’s VW Kraftwerk GmbH will also receive renewable power from the project, underlining the role of long-term contracts in supporting energy transition goals.

By integrating solar capacity with nearby wind generation and storage solutions, Solar Park Noordoostpolder demonstrates how diverse technologies can be aligned within a single renewable corridor. This structure not only increases power availability but also provides resilience to meet fluctuating demand.
