Wedoany.com Report-Nov 14, Volkswagen is partnering with Union Pacific Railroad to distribute imported vehicles to approximately 300 dealerships across the central and western United States.

The new Freeport facility features 53 wagon spots and the capacity to process up to 140,000 vehicles annually. The site will handle models from Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Porsche, and Lamborghini, primarily importing vehicles from Europe and Mexico, where Volkswagen and Audi have major assembly plants.

Located south of Houston along the Gulf Coast, the Union Pacific facility is strategically positioned to streamline access to rail transport, improving vehicle shipping logistics and supporting Volkswagen's goal to expand its U.S. market share.

The $114 million investment will create 110 new jobs in the Freeport community.

According to the American Association of Railroads, freight rail moves nearly 75% of new cars and light trucks purchased in the United States each year.
