Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 28, On September 24, 2025, BYD delivered 50 electric buses to BAKUBUS during a ceremony at the Sumgait Industrial Park in Azerbaijan. This delivery is the first batch of a 300-unit order, following a previous supply of 160 buses in 2024. The buses are the initial output from a new bus manufacturing facility, a joint venture between BYD, Azerbaijan’s Sarda Group, and the national development fund, marking a milestone in their collaboration to advance sustainable transportation.

Tian Chunlong, general manager of BYD’s commercial vehicle business unit, stated: “The successful launch of the plant and confirmation of the 300-bus order demonstrate the depth of cooperation between the company and Azerbaijan in sustainable transport.” He emphasized BYD’s commitment to leveraging its expertise in electrification and its integrated supply chain to support Azerbaijan’s shift to eco-friendly commercial vehicles and enhance its public transit system.

The new facility will transition to a completely knocked-down (CKD) assembly model starting in 2027, boosting local manufacturing capabilities and contributing to a more efficient, low-carbon public transport network. The 300 buses will serve Baku, Karabakh, and Nakhchivan, with additional units assembled locally and delivered in phases, supporting Azerbaijan’s sustainable mobility goals.

Following the ceremony, a BYD delegation met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, to explore further collaboration opportunities, including expanding localization efforts and developing new joint initiatives. These discussions aim to strengthen the partnership and promote sustainable economic growth in the region.

The delivery and new manufacturing facility highlight BYD’s role in supporting Azerbaijan’s transition to clean energy solutions for public transportation. By integrating local production and advanced electric vehicle technology, the project is expected to create jobs, enhance infrastructure, and contribute to environmental sustainability in Azerbaijan.
