Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 29, On Saturday, the Ministry of Public Works announced the start of construction for a key bridge over the Kokcha River, linking the Argo and Shahr-e-Bozorg districts in Badakhshan province. The project, funded by over 60 million Afghanis from the national development budget, aims to enhance connectivity and support economic activity for thousands of families in the region.

The bridge, measuring 80 meters in length and 9.9 meters in width, is designed to improve transportation across the Kokcha River. “The construction of this bridge will resolve long-standing commuting challenges for the local population, especially during the rainy seasons when river crossings become dangerous or impossible,” said Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works. The initiative is expected to facilitate easier access to markets, healthcare, and education services, fostering regional development.

The ministry emphasized that the bridge will adhere to modern engineering standards to ensure durability and safety. By addressing seasonal transportation barriers, the project will provide a reliable link between the two districts, reducing travel disruptions and enhancing safety for residents.
