Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 24, Air Water Inc., based in Osaka, Japan, has announced that its subsidiary, Air Water India Pvt. Ltd., has acquired a large-scale gas plant under construction at Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur facility in Jharkhand, Eastern India. The company has also secured a 20-year contract for the operation and maintenance of the plant, which will produce oxygen, nitrogen, and argon gases, along with their liquefied forms. The facility is designed to generate 1,800 metric tons of oxygen daily.

Set to begin operations in November 2025, the plant will ensure a reliable supply of industrial gases for Tata Steel’s operations. Additionally, it will distribute liquefied gas by-products to commercial customers in Eastern and Northern India, where demand is robust, supporting the expansion of Air Water’s industrial gas business in the region.

Tata Steel, a leading steel manufacturer in India and a key entity within the Tata Group, is integral to the country’s economic growth. Air Water India already operates three onsite gas plants at the Jamshedpur facility, having supplied gases continuously since 2019. The company’s expertise and established presence in India’s industrial gas sector have earned Tata Steel’s confidence, leading to the selection of Air Water for this fourth onsite plant at Jamshedpur.

A spokesperson for Air Water stated: “Air Water’s sales capabilities and strong presence as an industrial gas manufacturer in the Indian market have been highly valued by Tata Steel and have led to the awarding of this project as the fourth onsite gas plant for Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur plant.”

The acquisition strengthens Air Water’s operational footprint in India, aligning with its commitment to safe and efficient gas production. The company plans to leverage its technical expertise to enhance the stability of its operations and expand its gas production and distribution network across the country. This project is expected to create jobs and contribute to the regional economy while meeting the growing demand for industrial gases.

By supplying both Tata Steel and external markets, the new plant will play a significant role in supporting India’s industrial and manufacturing sectors. Air Water’s focus on sustainable operations and infrastructure development positions it as a key partner in India’s industrial growth, fostering long-term reliability and economic benefits in the region.
