Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 18, Indonesia’s corn production is projected to maintain strong growth through 2025, supported by an expanded planting area and favorable agro-climatic conditions. According to the Central Statistics Bureau (BPS), national dry grain production, measured at 14% moisture content, is expected to reach 16.55 million tonnes. This represents an increase of 1.41 million tonnes, or 9.34%, compared with the same period in 2024.
BPS forecasts that the total potential corn harvesting area in 2025 will rise to 2.79 million hectares, up 9.4% year-on-year. During the third sub-round of harvesting, from September to December, the area is projected to cover 810,000 hectares, a 3.27% increase compared with the same period in 2024. Production for this sub-round is expected to reach 5.13 million tonnes, about 0.3% higher than in 2024.
The agency notes that these estimates include early-harvested corn or corn used for animal feed. Final production figures may be adjusted depending on weather patterns, pest activity, flooding, droughts, or delays in late-season harvesting.
Indonesia’s corn sector continues to benefit from government support, improved farming practices, and favorable regional climate conditions, which collectively contribute to higher yields and production volumes. These developments are expected to strengthen domestic supply and support both local consumption and potential regional trade.
The outlook indicates that the country is on track to meet growing demand from the livestock, poultry, and food processing industries, while maintaining resilience against external and environmental factors that could affect output. The BPS forecasts provide a basis for planning and policy-making to sustain growth in Indonesia’s corn production throughout 2025.
