Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 20, SANY Group, a prominent Chinese manufacturer of heavy machinery, officially inaugurated its new industrial park in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Wednesday. The facility is designed to enhance local manufacturing capabilities and support regional industrial development.

Spanning 28,000 square meters, the park combines production lines, warehousing, and logistics operations with a dedicated training center. When operating at full capacity, it will produce approximately 1,000 excavators per year.

Guo Ruiguang, Vice President of SANY Group, stated that the company has been active in Africa for many years, supplying equipment worth more than 3 billion U.S. dollars and establishing a wide-reaching service network throughout the continent.

"The industrial park is not just a factory. It is a manufacturing hub, a logistics center, and a talent development platform that will create more than 100 new jobs," Guo said.

At the opening ceremony, South African Deputy Minister of Employment and Labor Judith Nemadzinga-Tshabalala welcomed the investment, noting it demonstrates sustained confidence in the country’s growth potential.

"One of the most compelling aspects of this project is sending dedication to skills development and technology transfer by investing in training and upskilling our workforce, saving for us to build a new generation of South African technicians, engineers, and industrial specialists," she said.

Qiu Zhongyi, Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in South Africa, observed that SANY’s role has grown from equipment supplier to active partner in local industrial advancement. He emphasized that South Africa continues to be a key destination for Chinese investment in Africa, with many enterprises contributing to employment, government revenue, and broader economic cooperation.

The Johannesburg facility will enable faster response times for customers across southern Africa, provide localized assembly and maintenance services, and offer practical training programs for technical personnel. It represents a further step in SANY’s long-term commitment to the African market and its contribution to infrastructure and mining sectors in the region.
