Wedoany.com Report-Dec.25, The Port of Oakland handled 174,239 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in November 2025, according to data released by port authorities. This volume represents a 4.1 percent decrease compared to November 2024 and a 4.7 percent decline from October 2025.

Loaded container volumes showed mixed trends. Exports performed strongly, totaling 68,824 TEUs. This marked a 3.3 percent increase year-over-year and a 4.0 percent rise from the previous month. The steady export growth reinforces the port's role as a major U.S. gateway for agricultural products and the leading West Coast facility for refrigerated cargo.

Loaded imports reached 73,092 TEUs during the month. This figure reflected a 9.3 percent drop year-over-year and an 11.1 percent decrease from October, indicating softer demand in that segment.

Bryan Brandes, Maritime Director at the Port of Oakland, said: "Exports continue to anchor Oakland’s performance. Even as market conditions adjust, exporters are moving cargo consistently, supported by efficient terminal operations and reliable service."

Combined loaded container volumes stood at 141,915 TEUs. This represented a 3.6 percent year-over-year reduction but remained nearly flat compared to October levels.

Empty container movements totaled 32,324 TEUs in November. This volume declined 6.4 percent from the same month last year and 6.3 percent from October. The reduction was primarily linked to carrier decisions on equipment repositioning rather than changes in underlying cargo demand.

Vessel calls decreased to 76 during the month. This was an 8.4 percent drop year-over-year and an 11.6 percent reduction from October. Carriers continued to consolidate services and deploy larger vessels, resulting in fewer but more heavily loaded ship calls. The shift helped maintain overall terminal throughput despite the lower number of arrivals.

November's performance demonstrates the port's ability to maintain stability in a changing market environment. Export strength and operational efficiency provided a solid foundation amid broader industry adjustments.

In comparison, the port processed 182,879 TEUs in October 2025. That month recorded a 2.2 percent increase from September, highlighting a contrast in monthly trends heading into the final weeks of the year.

The Port of Oakland continues to focus on reliable service and infrastructure improvements to support its key export sectors. Agricultural shipments, particularly refrigerated goods, remain a cornerstone of its cargo profile. These efforts help sustain the port's position as an important trade gateway on the U.S. West Coast.

Overall, the November figures reflect resilience in export flows while highlighting ongoing softness in import volumes. Port leadership remains committed to adapting operations to meet evolving customer needs and global trade patterns.
