Wedoany.com Report on Feb 7th, The international construction group STRABAG, through its Polish subsidiary STRABAG Sp. z o.o., has recently been awarded two contracts for road modernization projects in Poland, with a total value of approximately €147 million (equivalent to $173 million). These contracts further solidify the company's market position in the field of mobility infrastructure.

The first project involves a comprehensive renovation of the DK25 national road. This route is a crucial north-south artery connecting the A2 motorway with the S11 expressway. The Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) has entrusted STRABAG with the longest section of this project – an 18-kilometer stretch from Zbiersk to Kokanin. The upgrade is planned to widen the road into a dual carriageway with four lanes and construct eleven new engineering structures, including six road overpasses and four service overpasses. The project is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2029 and aims to enhance road safety, reduce travel times for local residents, and minimize environmental impact by incorporating wildlife crossings and noise barriers.

The second contract is part of the EU-funded "Łódź Tramway" program, which promotes urban development by reconstructing approximately 130 roads in the city of Łódź. STRABAG will carry out a modernization of Broniewskiego Street to strengthen transport links between residential areas and the city center. The works include widening the road surface to lay tram tracks, updating tram stops, and building dedicated bicycle lane facilities. This project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, with the goal of optimizing traffic flow, reducing vehicle emissions, and thereby improving local climate conditions in the city.

Péter Glöckler, a member of STRABAG's Executive Board, stated: "These projects once again demonstrate STRABAG's expertise in modern mobility infrastructure. One out of every four kilometers of motorway and expressway in Poland has been built by us. This underscores our significant contribution to the country's infrastructure development and reinforces our operational foundation in this dynamic market with long-term growth potential."

Data shows that in 2025, STRABAG completed 137 kilometers of road construction in Poland, confirming its role as a reliable partner for the national road network. With 38 years of operational experience in Poland, the company has built a total of 1,218 kilometers of motorways and expressways, accounting for approximately one-quarter of the total length of Poland's national road network. Around 7,400 STRABAG employees in Poland are also involved in numerous major projects, such as the modernization of Maksymilianowo railway station, the conversion of a former coal mine site in Katowice into a technology center, the expansion of Wrocław Airport, and the construction of the 131-meter-high Upper One office tower in Warsaw.
