The German chemical company BASF has announced the addition of a new production line at its Mangalore plant in India to increase dispersions capacity. It also plans to consolidate its global business services to enhance cost competitiveness and service efficiency. This move aims to meet the growing demand for dispersions in architectural coatings, chemicals, and paper applications in the Asia-Pacific region.

The expansion at the Mangalore plant will support the demand for advanced dispersions in India and surrounding regions. The new production line focuses on manufacturing products with performance advantages and sustainable characteristics. Through this investment, BASF is committed to providing more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions.

BASF also plans to consolidate finance and human resources services into a new global center in India, while supply chain services will be centralized at the existing center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Activities that must be close to operations will continue to be conducted regionally or locally. These adjustments are part of a strategy to standardize processes, increase automation, and optimize cost-effective locations.

Globally, in January, BASF commissioned a steam cracker at its Verbund site in Zhanjiang, China. The facility uses 100% renewable energy to power its main compressors, producing ethylene and propylene. This site is expected to become BASF's third-largest Verbund complex worldwide, primarily serving the Chinese market, reflecting the company's commitment to sustainability and regional service.
