RAILPOOL Enters French Electric Freight Locos Rental Market

Wedoany.com Report-Nov 28, Regiorail and RAILPOOL signed a full-service rental contract for seven Alstom Traxx Universal Last Mile locomotives.

RAILPOOL, one of Europe's leading rail vehicle leasing companies for electric locomotives, and Regiorail, France's fifth-largest railway company in terms of rail freight market share, have signed a long-term rental deal for three Alstom Traxx Universal locomotives with last mile support engines.

Frédérique Erlichman, Director RAILPOOL France says: "The new rolling-stock will allow Regiorail to operate new traffic whilst contributing to the economical balance of freight transport. RAILPOOL’s proven full-service offering will secure highest availability. With this success, Railpool has become a new player in France."

"As we are aiming to expand our services in Europe, the full-service rental of interoperable electric locomotives with last mile engine is just in line with our strategy. The bi-modal capability is also worthwhile for various domestic Regiorail traffic, offering energy efficiency and CO2 emission savings for the sake of our customer’s decarbonizing effort," adds Brice Devinoy, CEO of Eurorail/Regiorail.

The agreement is supplemented with an option for additional four locomotives.
