Wedoany.com Report on Mar 3rd, According to assessments by Shanghai Metals Market (SMM), China's antimony ingot production in February 2026 experienced a significant month-on-month decline of over 46%, showing a sharp downward trend. Market participants pointed out that the persistent cold weather in the north led to frozen mines, causing tight supply of ore raw materials. Additionally, the shutdowns and production cuts by manufacturers during the Spring Festival holiday were also contributing factors.
Since last September, domestic antimony production had been on a recovery trajectory. The sudden drop in February is considered a normal phenomenon and within expectations. However, the rapid decline in output may affect market supply in the short term.
SMM data shows that the company surveyed 33 antimony ingot producers across 8 provinces, with a total sample capacity exceeding 20,000 tons, covering over 99% of the total production capacity. Since May 2022, SMM has regularly released assessment reports on national antimony ingot production. Market participants anticipate that national antimony ingot production in March 2026 may see little change compared to February, with a higher likelihood of remaining stable or experiencing a slight increase.
