The Swiss construction chemicals company Sika has signed a commercial cooperation agreement with the Canadian technology company Giatec Scientific, aiming to enhance digital services in the concrete value chain. This collaboration will integrate Giatec's artificial intelligence tools with Sika's global network to provide data-driven solutions for concrete producers, improving quality, reducing costs, and promoting sustainability. Sika's "Fast Forward" program targets an additional EBITDA contribution of CHF 150 to 200 million by 2028, with digital investments being a core pillar.

The demand for digital technologies in the construction industry continues to grow. According to forecasts, the global market size for artificial intelligence in the construction sector is expected to increase from CHF 4.7 billion in 2026 to CHF 27.5 billion in 2034, with a compound annual growth rate of 24.8%. Against this backdrop, Sika and Giatec are combining their respective strengths to provide advanced concrete intelligence and real-time data insights to address industry challenges.

Through this agreement, Sika will integrate Giatec's sensors, software, and AI data analysis solutions into its global product services. Sika's sales network in over 100 countries will support customers in accessing advanced digital technologies to achieve efficient concrete operations. Key issues in concrete production include over-design of mixes due to fluctuations in raw materials and limited visibility outside the plant. By combining Giatec's AI quality control with Sika's innovative admixtures, customers can precisely optimize the use of cement and aggregates. Giatec's in-transit solutions extend visibility, enabling real-time monitoring of the delivery process, thereby enhancing efficiency, saving costs, and reducing CO2 emissions.

Ivo Schädler, Head of Sika's Construction Division, stated: "Sika is committed to becoming the digitalization leader in the construction value chain, creating measurable value for customers through advancing digitalization. This agreement builds on strategic investments and marks another milestone in driving the digitalization of the global concrete industry. By combining Giatec's advanced technology with Sika's material expertise, we are opening up new opportunities in efficiency, quality, and sustainability for customers worldwide." Pouria Ghods, CEO of Giatec, added: "Partnering with Sika enables us to scale our digital concrete technology globally. Together, we empower producers to make data-driven decisions, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact."
