Wedoany.com Report on Mar 7th, At the Commodity Classic event in San Antonio, representatives from Dekalb announced plans to launch nearly 30 new corn hybrids for the 2026 planting season. This initiative aims to expand the product portfolio by enhancing germplasm and proprietary genetics. The new series will include updated trait packages to increase yield potential and provide stronger protection against pests, such as corn rootworm.
One key technology is the SmartStax PRO platform, which utilizes RNA interference technology to provide protection against low to moderate rootworm pressure. This system targets above-ground and below-ground pests, helping farmers reduce reliance on chemical controls while maintaining recommended management practices. Company representatives noted, "Some growers are primarily adopting this technology to enhance yield performance, even in areas with limited rootworm pressure."
Developing new hybrids is a multi-year process involving extensive field evaluations and selecting genetic traits that deliver incremental improvements for growers. Dekalb's agronomists and field teams assess candidate hybrids during the growing season before advancing them through testing and preparing for commercial deployment. Interested farmers can consult with local dealers or technical agronomists for guidance on how these hybrids might fit into their operations.
