Wedonay.com Report on Mar 10th, Recently, the Ninggang Terminal of the Beilun Division under the Ore Company of Zhejiang Provincial Port Group, China, achieved a technological breakthrough by installing the industry's first domestic intelligent control system on its No. 2 ship unloader. With a handling capacity of 1,250 tons per hour, this ship unloader has become the group's first equipment to undergo core system localization, marking a step forward in the process of achieving autonomy and control over key port equipment.

The ship unloader retrofit project was initiated to enhance port operational scenarios, aiming to build an autonomous, efficient, and sustainable system. The original Japanese electrical control system faced challenges such as discontinued spare parts and maintenance difficulties due to aging. The domestic solution strengthens equipment autonomy and lays an intelligent foundation by proactively designing new application scenarios.
Technically, the control system utilizes Inovance's iFA platform, including the EVO series PLCs and GL20 series I/O modules, ensuring precise and reliable loading and unloading processes. The drive system employs the MD880 series inverters, which improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption through modular design and energy feedback functions. The new system saves approximately 30% of cabinet space and simplifies maintenance.
After the retrofit, the equipment's operational efficiency and stability have significantly improved, optimizing its total lifecycle cost. The project also established a digital foundation based on high-speed industrial Ethernet and fiber optic communication, reserving space for future advanced applications such as intelligent scheduling and supporting the long-term intelligent evolution of port equipment. This practice demonstrates how to translate forward-looking concepts into tangible value, providing certainty for core areas of China's manufacturing industry.
