Wedoany.com Report on Mar 13th, Montenegro recently signed a contract for the construction of infrastructure to connect the Tupan Solar Power Plant to the national transmission grid, marking a new step in the country's efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity. The agreement was signed by CGES Executive Director Ivan Asanović and S2P Elektric GMBH representative Predrag Prentić.
According to the agreement, both parties clarified the technical and operational conditions for the future integration of the 70-megawatt solar facility into the transmission network, laying the foundation for the plant's efficient operation after commissioning. This solar project is expected to increase domestic renewable energy electricity production, enhance energy security, and support the diversification of the energy system. By establishing clear grid connection specifications, the project provides a replicable technical pathway for subsequent new energy developments.
The construction of the Tupan Solar Power Plant aligns with Montenegro's long-term strategy to promote sustainable energy development and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. CGES noted that the project's implementation demonstrates its commitment to expanding renewable energy and upgrading power infrastructure, while also helping to improve the energy investment environment. The advancement of this project will accumulate experience for the energy transition in the Balkan region and promote the development and utilization of regional solar resources.
