Uzbekistan President Receives Briefing on Chemical Industry, 133 Chemical Projects Planned for 2026

Wedoany.com Report, On March 11, 2026, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a briefing on major investment projects and new production capacities in the country's chemical industry. The President instructed responsible officials to develop specific goals to increase chemical production, launch new chemical projects, and expand the export capacity of the chemical industry. A key target for 2026 is to raise Uzbekistan's chemical exports to $720 million. Fertilizer production targets include 1.12 million tons of nitrogen fertilizer, 135,000 tons of phosphate fertilizer, and 222,000 tons of potash fertilizer.Uzbekistan chemical industry briefing

In 2026, a total of 133 projects are planned across the entire chemical industry and various regions of Uzbekistan, with a total investment of $9.5 billion, and it is expected to attract $2.5 billion in investment. Among these, 24 strategic projects will raise $1.3 billion in funding and launch 7 new production facilities. The expansion progress of the Kungrad Soda Plant, the Samarkand Fertilizer Plant, and the Dekhanabad Potash Plant was strictly reviewed, and relevant officials were instructed to work closely with investors to accelerate project completion. The meeting paid special attention to the processing of phosphogypsum industrial waste from the Ammophos-Maxam plant to produce other products, including sulfuric acid.

The working briefing also proposed a plan to build a modern chemical technology innovation center with the participation of South Korean companies. The center will focus on areas such as gas and coal chemistry, advanced chemical analysis, adsorbents and catalysts, as well as nano and composite materials. Once completed, it will be the only facility of its kind in Central Asia.

Other projects discussed at the meeting include the production of solvents, cyanides, caustic soda, silicones, and mineral fertilizers, as well as the modernization of ammonia, urea, and ammonium nitrate production at the Fergana Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant and the Navoi Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant, the launch of household chemical production in the Tashkent region, and the production of new tires at the First Rubber Technology Plant.

Furthermore, the meeting reviewed the improvement of project management at Uzbek Industrial Company (Uzkimyosan'at). The company has implemented an ERP system integrated with 21 ministries and procurement agencies, consolidating 16 information systems into a single digital platform, thereby streamlining operational processes and improving efficiency.
