Wedoany.com Report, At 17:18 on March 17, a key breakthrough was achieved in the construction of Unit 6 of China Guangdong Lufeng Nuclear Power Plant undertaken by CNNC 23: the first steam generator was successfully hoisted and positioned, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent construction of the main critical path of the nuclear island.

The steam generator is the heaviest and largest single piece of core equipment among the main nuclear island equipment, hailed as the "lungs of nuclear power." Its core function is to transfer the heat from the high-temperature, high-pressure coolant produced by the reactor to the secondary circuit working fluid to generate steam, which drives the turbine generator to produce electricity. Simultaneously, as a key pressure boundary between the primary and secondary circuits, it serves as an important barrier preventing the release of radioactive materials.

To ensure the hoisting operation was safe, controllable, and met quality standards, the Lufeng Nuclear Power Project Department attached great importance and meticulously planned. The team collaborated with the Nuclear Reactor Company and lifting experts, fully leveraging the successful experience from Unit 5. They optimized construction logic and processes through sand table simulation exercises, refined each step of the procedure, and accurately predicted and mitigated potential risks. Throughout the entire hoisting process, the project team embodied the work style of "strictness, prudence, meticulousness, and practicality" in every stage—from equipment introduction, flipping and erecting, to hoisting and positioning—ultimately achieving the high-quality, efficient, and precise one-time positioning of the steam generator.

The successful hoisting of this first steam generator is not only a significant milestone in the construction of Unit 6 but also accumulates valuable experience and lays a solid foundation for the parallel construction and efficient advancement of the subsequent "dual units"—Units 5 and 6.
