Wedoany.com Report on Mar 18th, Imperial Oil's natural gas development plan in Texas, USA, has recently been expanded, targeting the drilling of 12 to 30 wells in 2026 and advancing a multi-phase project that includes well reactivation, recompletion, and future drilling activities.
Since the fourth quarter of 2025, the company has initiated a full-field plan involving reactivation and workover operations on existing wells. Operations have been conducted on 10 wells, aiming to restore baseline production and enhance field deliverability. Wells in the early stages have begun to flow during cleanup operations, showing initial production responses.
The broader development plan includes recompletion and well-deepening activities across multiple formations, such as the Glen Rose, Rodessa, James Lime, Travis Peak, and Haynesville-Bossier intervals, to bring additional productive zones online.
Imperial Oil is also advancing deep natural gas evaluations, planning to drill to depths of 17,000 to 21,000 feet to assess the potential of the Cotton Valley-Bossier and Western Haynesville areas.
To support the increased production capacity, the company is implementing infrastructure and facility upgrades, including the construction of gathering lines, well pad development, and connection preparations. An active rig is operating in the field for continuous workover and optimization activities.
Imperial Oil plans to introduce a dedicated drilling rig in the second quarter of 2026 to deepen wells from approximately 3,500 feet to 7,000 feet, marking a transition from reactivation work to a broader drilling phase.
The company also continues to optimize artificial lift systems, enhance water quality management, and upgrade thermal recovery infrastructure to improve the operational reliability and production consistency of the asset base.
