en.Wedoany.com Report, On March 22, the 80,000-ton-per-year industrial-scale carbon dioxide-based polyether (Carnol®) production facility of Changhua Chemical Technology Co., Ltd., located in the Xuwei Petrochemical Industrial Base in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China, officially commenced feedstock operation. With the stable real-time feedstock data from the control system, this production line achieved commercial operation, becoming China's first carbon dioxide-based polyether production line with ten-thousand-ton-level continuous and stable supply capability.

This project employs a low-pressure, low-temperature synthesis process to convert carbon dioxide into high-performance poly(propylene carbonate) polyols (PCE). Through this process, carbon dioxide, originally a greenhouse gas, is utilized in polyether production, achieving the transformation of carbon resources from the emission side to the manufacturing side. The commissioning of this project also signifies the formation of a scalable, replicable industrial solution in the green transformation of the polyurethane industry.

The significance of this project lies in realizing the industrial-scale application of the "Utilization" component within CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) technology, applying carbon resources to chemical product manufacturing. By using carbon dioxide as a raw material in polyether production, the project has put carbon resource recycling into practice. During the production process, carbon dioxide is chemically fixed within the molecular structure of the polyether, and the final product can be used in polyurethane material manufacturing.
