en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 24th, Alstom recently commissioned signaling and train control systems for the extensions of Lines 7 and 8 of the Delhi Metro in India. This project is part of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's Phase IV expansion plan and involves the supply of 312 Metropolis trains under a contract valued at €312 million. The new lines will enhance urban transport connectivity and support the operation of India's first fully circular driverless metro line.

The technical deployment includes Alstom's Urbalis Flo Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system, designed for Grade of Automation 4 (GoA 4) driverless operation. The 312 Metropolis trains were manufactured at Alstom's facility in Sri City, India, with a maximum safety speed of 95 km/h and a standard operating speed of 85 km/h.

Alstom's Urbalis Flo CBTC system faces competition in global urban rail networks from systems such as Siemens Mobility's Trainguard MT and Thales's SelTrac. This Delhi Metro project strengthens Alstom's position in the Indian market, which is expected to grow further as metro networks expand.

This deployment aligns with the 'Make in India' initiative, supporting urban transport development through local manufacturing. GoA 4 driverless operation helps improve the operational efficiency and frequency of the Delhi Metro to meet rising passenger demand. The project reflects the trend in the Indian railway signaling market towards automation and localization.
