en.Weodoany.com Report on Mar 27th, French company Viridien recently announced the launch of its Global Tailings Monitoring Service (GTMS), designed to provide more comprehensive and automated safety intelligence for mine operators and engineers. This service helps prevent failures that could lead to economic, environmental, and social impacts by detecting early warning signals.
The GTMS service, developed in collaboration with ESA Space Solutions, offers a cost-effective monitoring solution for tailings storage facilities. It can be scaled across multiple sites, integrating Earth observation and environmental data through a single online platform to address various potential failure mechanisms. It simplifies data collation and analysis processes, improves user efficiency, and leverages high-performance computing capabilities to generate results quickly. Monitoring data is frequently updated with new satellite acquisitions, at a higher frequency than traditional methods.
Peter Whiting, Director of Earth Science at Viridien, stated: "The safety of mine tailings storage facilities is critical to the mining industry. Based on consultations with large multinational mining companies and expertise in remote sensing, GTMS is a transformative service aimed at reducing the risk of potential failures and enhancing ESG performance. This Global Tailings Monitoring Service is a valuable investment for our clients, supporting their responsibility and sustainability goals."
