The bridge maintenance and civil structures contract, announced in February 2026, was procured through a competitive flexible procurement process under the Procurement Act 2023. The scope of the contract covers a range of specialist maintenance services, including applying protective coatings to civil assets such as brick, masonry, concrete structures, and steel structures, vegetation management (off-track side), power supply activities for cable columns and replacement of defective cable columns, maintenance of brick-lined tunnels, covered ways and crossbeams, cable ladder manipulation activities, inspection planning and support services, cable draw pit maintenance, asset deterioration surveys conducted every four years, replacement or damaged signage, and fault response and route maintenance.

The tender notice from Transport for London stated: "These services are critical to ensuring the safety of rail operations, and the bridge maintenance and structures contract plays a key role in safety standards and accident prevention." The bridge maintenance work covered by this contract will ensure that key civil structure assets in the London transport network, such as bridges, tunnels, and subways, remain in a safe operating condition.
