en.Wedoany.com Reported - Avira Resources Ltd (ASX:AVW) has commenced its inaugural 4,500-metre reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Mt Cattlin Gold Project in Western Australia, targeting extensions of known high-grade gold mineralisation and two additional prospects.
The drilling program focuses on the Sirdar and Maori Queen deposits, where previous drilling has returned high-grade intercepts including 1m at 131.24g/t gold, 6m at 50.07g/t, and 2m at 31.65g/t. The drilling will also evaluate the Ellendale and Plantagenet prospects located within the Ravensthorpe Greenstone Belt of the Yilgarn Craton.

The approved 4,500-metre RC program covers four prospects: Sirdar, Maori Queen, Ellendale, and Plantagenet, with all regulatory, environmental, and heritage approvals in place. The company has divided the entire program into two phases: first, defining shallow extensions at the more advanced Sirdar and Maori Queen deposits; second, systematically drilling and testing Ellendale and Plantagenet to assess their resource potential.
At the Sirdar deposit, drilling will test shallow extensions above and adjacent to the current mineralisation envelope. The deposit has a defined strike length of 115 metres and extends to depths exceeding 100 metres, with mineralisation hosted in altered stockwork quartz-veined dolerite. At Maori Queen, the company is targeting extensions beneath the historical mining area and further down-dip extensions. The deposit has a defined strike length of 150 metres and extends 100 metres down-dip, remaining open at depth and along strike.

Ellendale, located 500 metres northwest of Sirdar, has historical results including 10m at 2.70g/t gold and 13m at 1.51g/t gold. Plantagenet, located 600 metres west-southwest of Sirdar, has returned shallow high-grade results including 4m at 18.52g/t and 3m at 19.98g/t.
Avira Resources Executive Director James Robinson said the arrival of the RC drill rig at Mt Cattlin marks the transition of the project from the preparation phase to active exploration. He noted that the 4,500-metre program has been carefully designed, targeting shallow extensions of the high-grade system that has already produced 131g/t gold and 50g/t gold at Sirdar, and tracking the main and secondary veins beneath historical mining levels at Maori Queen. Ellendale and Plantagenet are early-stage prospects with encouraging historical results that warrant first-pass systematic drill testing.
Avira expects to receive and interpret assay results progressively during the second and third quarters of 2026, and plans to complete the maiden mineral resource estimate for Mt Cattlin in the third to fourth quarters of 2026.
