en.Wedoany.com Reported - OpenAI released an internal report stating that its Codex tool has far exceeded the scope of software engineering in knowledge work applications. Codex currently has over 5 million weekly active users, growing more than sixfold since the desktop application launched in February. The report notes that while developers remain the largest user group, knowledge workers now account for approximately 20%, with a growth rate more than three times that of the overall user base.

To further attract these users, OpenAI has launched six plugins tailored for specific jobs, covering data analysis, creative production, sales, product design, equity investment, and investment banking. These tools are integrated within the Codex application, with each plugin incorporating relevant operational instructions and context designed to simulate the workflow of the corresponding profession. The plugins are ready to use out of the box and can be continuously optimized based on user customization.

This move follows Anthropic's launch of similar enterprise agent deployments. Anthropic released its enterprise agent plan in February and further introduced specialized agents for the financial sector in May. OpenAI started later in expanding enterprise customers, only introducing plugin support for Codex in March.

Alongside the plugins, Codex also introduces a new Sites feature, which allows tool outputs to be converted into hostable interactive websites rather than just local files. To support this feature, OpenAI has partnered with Wix, Base44, Replit, Lovable, Figma, and Emergent, and plans to expand a larger partner ecosystem. The newly introduced Annotations feature enables users to precisely specify specific areas within documents or files in Codex, allowing for more granular instruction operations.

These enterprise-level features come just three weeks after OpenAI established a new entity focused on enterprise customers—OpenAI Deployment Company. This joint venture has secured over $4 billion in funding from global investment firms, aiming to more deeply embed OpenAI tools into global corporate infrastructure and workflows. OpenAI Chief Revenue Officer Denise Dresser stated that AI is increasingly capable of performing more meaningful work within organizations, and the current challenge lies in helping enterprises integrate these systems into the architecture that supports their operations.
