en.Wedoany.com Reported - BNSF Railway has launched a new program called Reload, allowing import containers to be reused for transporting goods to the U.S. West Coast before being returned overseas.

BNSF officials stated in a press release that the service provides full access to the empty container network, improving freight transportation efficiency, reducing costs for shippers, and enabling more economical logistics solutions within the supply chain.

Jon Gabriel, Vice President of the Consumer Products Group, said this new option benefits all parties, offering more choices for customers and U.S. producers, maximizing equipment balance, achieving higher cost-effectiveness, expanding capacity solutions for products suitable for 20-foot or 40-foot containers, and being more environmentally friendly.

BNSF officials noted that Reload is similar to the company's Matchback program, which pairs empty import containers with export commodities such as grain and other agricultural products.

Additionally, BNSF has reached a new tentative collective agreement with the Transportation Communications Union/IAM (TCU), covering 37 employees at its headquarters in Fort Worth.

BNSF officials said the agreement, subject to ratification by union members, will provide a total wage increase of 17.5% over five years (18.8% compounded), retroactive to July 1, 2025, along with accelerated improvements to holiday provisions and the retention of medical benefits. Currently, over 96% of BNSF employees are covered by tentative or ratified agreements.
