en.Wedoany.com Reported - Apple has announced that the Siri AI features integrated into iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 will not be launched in the European Union market due to compliance requirements under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The delayed features include a dedicated Siri app, expanded visual intelligence tools, writing assistance, Siri mode in the Camera app, and several AI-driven experiences unveiled at WWDC 2026. Apple has released iOS 27 and other operating systems for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with Siri AI being the most significant update, originally planned to be released alongside the system as a beta version later this year.

Craig Federighi, Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, stated that the company spent months communicating with European regulators to find a solution allowing Siri AI to launch in the EU, but expressed disappointment with the progress. There is currently no timeline for a launch in the EU. Additionally, because Siri AI on watchOS 27 relies on a paired iPhone to run AI models, EU users will also be unable to access Siri AI features on the Apple Watch. Developers will not be able to test or integrate the new Siri AI features into their apps on firmware such as iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and watchOS 27.
Apple believes the delay stems from the European Commission's interpretation of the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which requires Apple to grant third-party virtual assistants broad access to user data and device functions. Apple fears this would allow external AI systems to read and send messages, access files, make purchases, and perform cross-app operations with insufficient safeguards. To address this issue, Apple proposed a framework called the Trusted System Agent, acting as an intermediary to allow third-party assistants to access device functions without compromising user privacy. Apple also suggested a phased rollout of Siri AI in the EU, implementing these safeguards over 18 months, but the European Commission did not approve any of its proposals.
However, Siri AI will still be available on macOS 27 and visionOS 27 in the EU. Apple stated it will continue discussions with regulators and work to launch the feature in the region.
