en.Wedoany.com Reported - Claro officially launched GPU as a Service at Web Summit Rio on Tuesday (June 9), a service offered in partnership with Nvidia. Targeting businesses and startups, the service enables them to use and create AI models, including large language models (LLMs) and small language models (SLMs), accelerating proof-of-concept in AI development and driving the creation of new applications. Claro's solution allows companies to purchase the processing power they need on demand, democratizing access to high-performance GPUs.

Roberta Godoi, CEO of Claro's SME division, stated that this strategy continues the operator's expansion plan, which announced an investment of 1 billion Brazilian reais to expand the Claro cloud platform at the 2025 Web Summit. This as-a-service solution optimizes investments, provides full financial predictability, bills directly in Brazilian reais, and ensures that high-performance resources are accessible to businesses of all sizes and types. Godoi noted that since last year, they have been committed to becoming the leading cloud solutions partner in the country and were elected as an Nvidia Cloud Partner (NCP), enabling them to offer GPU as a Service to both SMEs and large enterprises, accelerating and democratizing the adoption of artificial intelligence. She pointed out that experiencing AI is convenient, but the challenge lies in scaling, and their work addresses this scaling pain point.
Mario Rachid, Chief Product Officer at Claro, explained that companies can rent a GPU from a well-known firm for four hours, with support in Portuguese and billing in reais. Rachid concluded that this will democratize usage for SMEs that currently lack access to such technology. Godoi added that under the traditional model, companies need to purchase at least eight units and are likely to use less than 20% of the capacity initially, or even fail to reach 100% usage over the entire cycle. She stated that through this service, companies can experience AI while their data remains protected, and since AI is a competitive factor, businesses can leverage this resource to sell more products and operate more efficiently.
Initially, processing will take place abroad, as current costs make local processing unfeasible. Rachid indicated that there are plans to move processing to Brazil to ensure data sovereignty, regardless of whether the Special Tax Regime for Data Center Services (Redata) benefits are available. He emphasized that Redata would help, and while it cannot be said that the move won't happen without Redata, the volume of relocation would be significantly lower without the incentive.
Rodrigo Assad, Innovation Director at Claro's R&D center BeON, stated that the company learned to segment consumption and developed a platform for token monetization. Assad said that the experience they bring is that, after becoming an NCP, they received full support from Nvidia to build and train models. On this platform, they can set limits, and customers can purchase tokens.
Márcio Aguiar, Executive Director for Latin America at Nvidia, emphasized that Claro is the first and only NCP in the region and is part of a global partner network. He explained that the NCP program started four years ago and now includes 80 NCPs like Claro, with Claro being the only one in Brazil. He stressed that Claro does not compete with large cloud providers, as their models differ, but Claro's differentiator lies in its flexibility. Aguiar added that large providers sign long-term contracts and even purchase capacity from NCPs, driven by their customers' needs and the challenges of building and expanding data centers. NCPs are typically companies with the DNA to build GPU-accelerated data centers, having previously served the cryptocurrency market; when that market declined, they taught these companies to meet AI demands. Today, about ten of the 80 NCPs are listed on U.S. stock exchanges. They have once again created a way for customers to access their AI platform.
