en.Wedoany.com Reported - Deutsche Telekom has partnered with Palo Alto Networks to launch a cybersecurity solution for European enterprises and public sector users, emphasizing "data sovereignty control" capabilities. The product is named "Sovereign Cortex with T Security."

Under the plan, Palo Alto Networks deploys its AI-driven Cortex SecOps system on Deutsche Telekom's cloud platform. Targeting Europe's most heavily regulated industries, including healthcare, the public sector, financial services, and critical national infrastructure, Deutsche Telekom promises data sovereignty controls independently managed by itself. In a German-language announcement, Deutsche Telekom stated that it has full control over the encryption process, using Google Cloud's external key manager and holding and managing the Key Encryption Key (KEK) independently of Palo Alto Networks and Google, thereby ensuring exclusive access to data. The service is scheduled to go live in the third quarter of this year.

Enterprises operating in the EU must comply with an increasing number of regional sovereignty regulations, such as GDPR, NIS2 (the latest Network and Information Security Directive), and DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act). Palo Alto Networks noted that these regulations require demonstrable control, not just data residency, specifically including control over data access permissions, encryption methods, auditing provider access, and how data is handled in support operations.

Deutsche Telekom and its partner believe that Sovereign Cortex with T Security meets these requirements by adding multiple layers of control that go beyond data residency, covering customer and system (telemetry) data, encryption keys, and independently audited access logs. This enables Europe's highly regulated organizations to adopt cloud-delivered security solutions while maintaining sovereignty. Palo Alto Networks added that all technical support personnel are located exclusively in Europe, and all contractual agreements are governed by European law.

Thomas Tschersich, Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Deutsche Telekom and CEO of Deutsche Telekom Security GmbH, stated that the joint product is unique at the European quality level, meeting compliance requirements for NIS2, DORA, and KRITIS (the German Act on the Federal Office for Information Security) in terms of data sovereignty, without requiring customers to compromise on the effectiveness of cyber defense.

Helmut Reisinger, CEO of Palo Alto Networks for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, said that European organizations need real-time AI-driven security as well as verifiable data sovereignty controls, and should not be forced to choose between the two. The service directly responds to the demands of European customers and regulators, offering a service that respects European sovereignty, maintains the security effectiveness and modular platform that customers rely on, and reflects customer trust.
