en.Wedoany.com Reported - Knauf Insulation has launched a free online embodied carbon calculator, enabling users to calculate the U-value of selected insulation materials (to reduce operational carbon emissions) and the embodied carbon of specified products on a single platform.

Diana Dzhambazova, Regional Sustainability Manager at Knauf Insulation, stated that regulation of embodied carbon is inevitable, but many specifiers are already required to calculate whole-life carbon to meet client requirements, local authority expectations, and emerging standards such as the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard. This calculator makes the process faster and simpler.
Users can use the U-value calculator to determine the insulation needed to meet project target U-values and generate an embodied carbon calculation for their chosen insulation material. The tool can also be used as a standalone calculator.
The calculator provides embodied carbon results by weight, area, and total project scale. Knauf Insulation's product range is assessed using the latest EPD standard EN15804+A2, and the calculator links directly to the relevant EPDs, making it easier for users to verify and cross-reference source data.
Diana added that sustainability reporting must be rigorous but does not need to be complex or time-consuming. Knauf Insulation is the first insulation manufacturer in the UK to launch such a tool, with the goal of continuing to help specifiers build more sustainable buildings.
