en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Brazilian Federal Attorney General's Office (AGU) is migrating all its servers' email and work tools from Microsoft to Google, primarily due to the integration of Google's Gemini Artificial Intelligence and cost considerations. Caio Castelliano, Secretary of Strategic Governance and Management at AGU, revealed at the opening of the 3rd Public Attorney Digital Transformation Forum, organized by Network Eventos in Brasília this Monday (June 15), that the full migration is expected to be completed by August.
Caio Castelliano detailed to CDTV that the cost per server migrating from Microsoft to Google, including Gemini AI, will drop from 157.00 reais to 58.27 reais. AGU holds a perpetual license for Microsoft 2021, so software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint can still be used. Castelliano stated that the migration is primarily driven by cost considerations, and if Microsoft also offers artificial intelligence for its products, both parties could renegotiate.
The Federal Attorney General's Office, which handles approximately 19,000 judicial cases entering the system daily, has made technology a core pillar of its operations. In terms of cloud services, the agency decided to store only public documents with major tech companies, while sensitive and confidential documents are run within AGU's own data center, which is equipped with GPUs for artificial intelligence processing. Castelliano emphasized that AGU only uses the cloud for AI workloads, and the adoption of a sovereign cloud will proceed based on demand, but the agency has already invested in building a powerful data center.
The AGU Governance Secretary also announced plans to launch a smart bookmark feature in August. This feature will use artificial intelligence to generate summaries for each document, facilitating lawyers' review of cases. Currently, the feature is still in the testing phase to understand the token consumption required for publication. The agency plans to expand it to the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), the Federal Supreme Court (STF), and strategic departments in consulting and litigation. Castelliano also mentioned the need to heavily invest in training within AGU to popularize the use of artificial intelligence.
