en.Wedoany.com Reported - Capital One Software has launched the Databolt Connect application, now available on the Databricks Marketplace, designed for secure multi-party data collaboration. This lightweight application is specifically built for privacy-preserving data linking within the Databricks environment, aiming to support research institutions and enterprises in data sharing and analysis.

Enterprises face the challenge of balancing compliance with business growth in data sharing. Prashant Prahlad, Senior Vice President of Products at Capital One Software, stated that by extending collaboration capabilities in Databolt and making it available on the Databricks Marketplace, organizations can natively protect sensitive data assets within Databricks, thereby unlocking data potential while ensuring security and compliance.

Taking the Health and Life Sciences (HLS) sector as an example, these organizations handle highly sensitive data restricted by privacy regulations, security, and competitive risks, making raw data typically unsuitable for direct sharing. The Databolt Connect application allows users to securely prepare and link datasets within Databricks Clean Rooms, enabling organizations to drive data collaboration while maintaining compliance and security without moving raw data outside their environment.

The application offers several key features. Under a zero-trust architecture, data preparation, tokenization, and secure linking processes are executed solely within the organization-controlled Databricks instance, ensuring that raw sensitive data never leaves the customer environment or is exposed to any third party. For HIPAA-regulated data, the application supports customizable rules, including one-way irreversible tokenization and generalization (e.g., converting dates to years, full ZIP codes to 3-digit prefixes), to generate unique, client-specific encrypted tokens that support secure record linking and HIPAA de-identification workflows. In terms of secure record linking, multiple parties can bring tokenized data into a shared Databricks Clean Room, securely connecting datasets via protected tokens to enable high-value joint analysis.

Stephen Orban, Senior Vice President of Product Ecosystem and Partners at Databricks, noted that customers have been seeking simpler, more secure ways to discover, access, and share data and AI assets within their organizations and ecosystems. Introducing Capital One Software's Databolt Connect application to the Databricks Marketplace will help joint customers, such as those in the Health and Life Sciences sector, collaborate on data with confidence, unlocking more data value on an open, governed platform.
