en.Wedoany.com Reported - China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued a notice seeking public comments on multiple proposed revisions and additions to industry standards. The proposed standards include technical requirements for humanoid robots in scenarios such as substations and home appliance manufacturing.

Substations are key nodes in the power grid. Current intelligent inspection of substations primarily relies on wheeled or tracked robots, but approximately 30% of inspection points within substations are blind spots that wheeled robots cannot cover. Humanoid robots, with their human-like movement patterns, bipedal walking capabilities, and multi-joint coordinated operation abilities, can compensate for the shortcomings of existing inspection robots. Currently, the lack of standards has become a bottleneck restricting the large-scale application of humanoid robots in substations.

The proposed "Technical Requirements for Humanoid Robots in Substation Scenarios" mainly includes establishing a terminology system applicable to humanoid robots in substations, specifying technical requirements from eight aspects, and stipulating full-process management. This will provide a unified technical basis and testing evaluation methods for the industry, breaking the application dilemma of "dare not use, cannot use, and not easy to use."

In the field of home appliance manufacturing, several Chinese companies have already deployed humanoid robots to perform tasks in smart home appliance manufacturing factories. Evaluation standards for the operational effectiveness of humanoid robots in this industry are particularly important. The proposed "Technical Requirements for Humanoid Robots in Home Appliance Manufacturing Scenarios" puts forward an evaluation index system for operational effectiveness and describes evaluation methods. This will provide manufacturers with clear technical development directions, help application parties more effectively evaluate and optimize the working performance of humanoid robots, and also serve as a reference for evaluating the application of humanoid robots in other fields.

Other standards proposed for establishment include "Specifications for After-Sales Service of Humanoid Robots and Embodied Intelligence" and "General Technical Requirements for Humanoid Robot Interconnection Systems."

Previously, on June 8, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the General Office of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission jointly issued a notice to launch a special action for real-world training of humanoid robots and embodied intelligence in 2026. The notice proposes that by the end of 2026, key products such as humanoid robots will first complete application verification and routine deployment in a batch of representative scenarios, initiating operational modes; consolidate and form over 100 high-value application scenarios, further enrich the application spectrum of embodied intelligence, and drive the formation of a scale of tens of thousands of units in deployment.
