en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has officially launched the acceptance of new applications for telecommunications service authorizations, as well as applications for migrating existing licenses to the terms and conditions of authorizations under the Telecommunications Act, 2023.

This initiative stems from the notification of the Telecommunications Service Authorization Rules under Section 3(1)(a) of the Telecommunications Act, 2023, which was issued on June 23, 2026. On the same day, the Telecommunications Rules regarding the migration of licenses to the terms and conditions of authorizations, formulated under Section 3(6) of the Act, were also notified.

As envisioned under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, the aforementioned rules are implemented following the "digital native" principle. To facilitate this, the online application module for obtaining new authorizations and migrating existing licenses has been operationalized.

Previously, in a press release dated October 24, 2025, the DoT announced that, as a temporary measure, it would suspend the acceptance of new applications for Unified Licenses, Unified Licenses (VNO), Independent Licenses, registrations, permissions, and No Objection Certificates, effective November 10, 2025. This suspension remained in effect until the notification of the new authorization framework.
