en.Wedoany.com Reported - DWS has announced the acquisition of a stake in Flannery, a UK heavy construction equipment rental company, from the Flannery family and company management. Upon completion of the transaction, the Flannery family will retain significant ownership of the company, and Patrick and Martin Flannery will continue to serve as Co-CEOs.
This partnership aims to strengthen Flannery's service capabilities in major UK infrastructure projects. Flannery is the largest operator of heavy construction equipment rental in the UK, providing large construction machinery and skilled equipment operators, primarily serving tier-one contractors focused on the infrastructure sector.
The company's business is closely aligned with the national long-term infrastructure development plan, with its projects including High Speed 2, nuclear energy developments such as Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C, as well as various investment programs for the power grid and water network.
Flannery currently operates over 7,900 units across 16 sites in the UK and Ireland. Its fleet achieves nationwide coverage through a diverse range of modern construction equipment.
DWS stated that the transaction reflects its experience in the equipment rental business, its history of collaborating with family-owned enterprises, and its understanding of the infrastructure industry served by Flannery's clients. Hamish Mackenzie, Global Head of Infrastructure at DWS, said the acquisition aligns with the firm's focus on high-quality, asset-backed infrastructure companies and the macro investment theme of supply chain resilience. The customer base served by Flannery is benefiting from growing demand driven by capital investment plans in UK core infrastructure, including transportation, energy, and utilities. This demand is further fueled by long-term energy transition and digitalization trends, which require substantial and sustained capital expenditure to drive national economic growth. Mackenzie praised the strategic and operational performance of Flannery's management team over the past 20 years and expressed DWS's pleasure in collaborating with the Flannery family and the current management team. They will play a key role in further enhancing the company's value and ensuring it continues to provide the best service to tier-one contractors focused on the infrastructure sector.
