en.Wedoany.com Reported - China's Zotye Auto Co., Ltd. (Zotye Auto, 000980.SZ) announced in late June 2026 that it has reached a preliminary consensus on strategic cooperation for the full industrial chain of new energy vehicles with Indonesia's National Agency for Consumer Protection and Trade Standards (BPKN). Dr. Muhammad Mufti Mubarak, Chairman of BPKN, led a business delegation to visit Zotye Auto's headquarters, where both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on core topics including overseas factory construction, technology transfer, power battery integration, local talent cultivation, and Southeast Asian market expansion. The cooperation includes building factories in Indonesia, technology transfer, power battery integration, local talent cultivation, and Southeast Asian market layout.

Zotye Auto is a Chinese automobile manufacturer founded in 2003, headquartered in Yongkang City, Zhejiang Province, and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2010 (stock code: 000980). In 2021, the company halted production due to a debt crisis and entered bankruptcy reorganization. Following equity restructuring and internal adjustments, Zotye retained its vehicle production qualification, four core manufacturing processes (stamping, welding, painting, and final assembly), and its parts supply chain system. As of 2025, the company's vehicle business had not resumed production. Entering 2026, Zotye secured a 400 million yuan low-interest loan from banks in its headquarters location and restarted R&D, with its 2026 development strategy focusing on "core business concentration, low-cost operations, rapid production resumption, and overseas priority."

According to the preliminary communication plan between the two parties, the cooperation is proposed to proceed in phases. Phase I will adopt SKD semi-knocked-down assembly mode for rapid production, gradually increasing the localization rate of parts; Phase II plans to build an integrated smart factory with an annual production capacity of 150,000 units, covering the four major processes of stamping, welding, painting, and final assembly, as well as power battery production lines, deploying models suitable for the Southeast Asian market, including household new energy vehicles, urban logistics vehicles, and pickup trucks. Zotye Auto intends to leverage its own technology and supply chain advantages to export a complete technical system for vehicle R&D, manufacturing, and quality control, transplant mature supply chain resources, and establish a localized service system integrating sales, maintenance, and talent training locally.

The Indonesian side stated that the country has abundant nickel ore resources and considerable potential for the new energy vehicle market, but its local vehicle manufacturing system is still underdeveloped, urgently requiring the introduction of high-quality automakers to fill the gaps. The Indonesian delegation visited Zotye Auto's new energy vehicle production workshop, vehicle trial production line, and parts supporting testing area, focusing on researching economical household electric vehicles and urban logistics new energy models suitable for the Southeast Asian market.

As of now, the two parties have not signed a formal agreement, and details such as project investment amount, construction timeline, and policy support have not been finalized, with the cooperation still in the preliminary intent stage.
