en.Wedoany.com Reported - Consultancy and contracting group RECOM has invested in a new 27,000 sq ft warehouse and office building at Westbrook Estate in Trafford Park to support the expansion of its fire safety division, RECOM Fire Solutions. Located just a short distance from its group headquarters in Salford Quays, the warehouse has been refurbished by landlord Indurent, with shelving installed by Nexus Storage Solutions.

RECOM stated that this distribution centre is part of a six-figure investment in RECOM Fire Solutions, which also includes expanding its fleet, aimed at enhancing operational capacity and efficiency. The division specialises in providing passive fire protection engineering services in active environments across education, healthcare, residential, defence, and facilities management sectors.

Sarah Leadbetter, Head of RECOM Fire Solutions, noted that several smaller facilities in the North West have been consolidated into this single site, thereby increasing storage capacity, improving logistics, and strengthening inventory management. The centralised distribution centre at Westbrook Estate will streamline delivery processes and reduce the number of trips required to support projects. The new distribution centre and expanded fleet follow the opening of a base at Fort Dunlop in Birmingham earlier this year, which supports projects in the Midlands, along the M6 corridor, and in the South West.

Leadbetter stated that the new North West distribution centre enhances efficiency through centralisation, increases storage capacity, and improves inventory management. She believes Trafford Park is an ideal location, with excellent transport links and proximity to the group headquarters, providing a solid foundation for the next phase of expansion while helping to reduce the company's carbon footprint.

Services offered by the division include compartmentation and fire door condition surveys, installation and repair of fire stopping and fire doors, application of intumescent coatings, boarding, and installation of fire shutters. RECOM Solutions as a whole undertakes project management consultancy and main contracting construction works, alongside its passive fire protection business. The group was founded in 2015 by Jason McKnight and Joseph Dillon, who met while studying construction management at the University of Salford and later worked together at Bovis Lend Lease.
