en.Wedoany.com Reported - A recent report titled "Trade Insights: Perspectivas de Comercio Exterior" released by the Northeast Foreign Trade Council (COMCE Noreste) shows that in the first four months of 2026, Mexico achieved significant progress in foreign trade and advanced manufacturing, with machinery and equipment exports growing by 97%, becoming the main driver of the country's manufacturing export growth.

The machinery and equipment industry is leading Mexico's transformation toward high-tech and higher value-added processes.

The report indicates that from January to April 2026, Mexico's total exports increased by 21.8% year-on-year, reaching $247.628 billion, with a trade surplus of $3.508 billion. This performance reflects the vitality of the industrial and manufacturing sectors, as the country accelerates its transition to high value-added industries by enhancing technological content and international competitiveness.

Exports in the machinery and equipment sub-sector reached $73.078 billion, accounting for 32.4% of Mexico's total manufacturing exports. This data indicates that companies in Mexico are strengthening automation processes, integrating technology, and moving toward higher value-added manufacturing.

Meanwhile, the automotive industry maintained a strategic position in foreign trade, with its export share accounting for 27%, reaching $60.914 billion, contributing to a more diversified and competitive export matrix.

In terms of bilateral trade, Mexico's economic relationship with the United States continues to strengthen. As of the end of 2025, Mexico was the largest supplier to the U.S. market, with exports of $534.874 billion, ahead of Canada and China. The performance in the first few months of 2026 further confirms the advantages of the country's production platform, logistics infrastructure, and professional talent, enhancing its competitiveness in global trade.
