en.Wedoany.com Reported - Twenty20 Energy will construct a U.S. data center and energy-digital infrastructure complex in the communes of Redzikowo and Słupsk, within the Słupsk County of the Pomeranian region in Poland, serving global tech companies such as Google, Meta, and OpenAI. The investment, estimated to be worth tens of billions of dollars, will be carried out by this energy infrastructure developer, previously primarily active in Southeast Asia and the United States, with construction set to begin this year.

Morgan Knowles, Chief Operating Officer of Twenty20 Energy, stated that data centers are facilities connected to the power grid and the internet, providing daily services ranging from cloud computing to data processing for clients like OpenAI, Google, and Meta. The company spent a year analyzing the Pomeranian region, assessing its energy base, industrial foundation, human resources, and local institutions, concluding that the area meets the conditions for long-term project development. Twenty20 Energy's European headquarters and regional shared service center will be located in Słupsk, overseeing engineering, procurement, project development, and commercial activities across Poland, Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and Africa.

The project, named "Griffin," plans to develop infrastructure in multiple phases through 2030, ultimately achieving 790 megawatts of power. Mieczysław Struk, Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, noted that the region's competitive advantage stems from a stable supply of green energy, making the Słupsk area attractive for high-tech investments. Another key factor influencing the investor's decision is the existing high-pressure natural gas transmission infrastructure, which can connect local energy production with power and digital infrastructure, creating an integrated platform with high operational resilience. This platform could support energy system balancing and reserve capacity markets in the future, benefiting the entire national system.

Local authorities emphasized the prestige and economic benefits of this investment. Marta Makuch, Deputy Mayor of Słupsk, stated that the city is fully prepared to cooperate with the investor, particularly in vocational education and collaboration with the Pomeranian University. Barbara Dykier, Mayor of the Redzikowo Commune, added that the investment will bring substantial tax revenues and confirmed the security of the area, which hosts a U.S. missile defense base. The commune has been preparing land for investment for years and currently possesses an 80-hectare fully equipped zone, which has been awarded the "Grunt na Medal" prize.

Sławomir Koprowski, President of the Pomeranian Regional Development Agency, emphasized that the project requires a large amount of green energy, aligning with the latest technological trends, and its benefits will extend to Słupsk, Redzikowo, and surrounding businesses. The investment will create hundreds of jobs in construction, manufacturing, engineering, and project management, making it one of the largest investment projects announced in the region in recent years.
