en.Wedoany.com Reported - American Airlines will launch daily direct flights between Ontario International Airport (ONT) and Chicago O'Hare International Airport starting December 17, 2026. Alan D. Wapner, President of the Ontario International Airport Authority and Interim Mayor of the City of Ontario, welcomed the airline's decision, noting that American Airlines has served the region since 1970 and is a long-valued partner of the airport. Wapner stated that as demand for air travel in Southern California grows, airlines and passengers are turning to Ontario for its affordable prices, convenient access, customer service, and world-class facilities and amenities.

American Airlines will launch direct flights between Southern California's Ontario International Airport and Chicago O'Hare in December.

The round-trip flights include a morning departure from Ontario, with the return flight arriving in the evening. American Airlines will operate Boeing 737 aircraft with 172 seats across three classes: 16 first-class seats, 24 Main Cabin Extra seats, and 132 Main Cabin seats. The new flights will complement United Airlines' existing service in the market. Bookings are available at www.aa.com starting July 6.

American Airlines has consistently ranked among the top five carriers in passenger traffic at Ontario International Airport and offers direct service to several of its hubs, including Dallas/Fort Worth, Charlotte, and Phoenix, providing connections to American Airlines' global network. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Ontario's return to local ownership. Since the return, American Airlines has increased its flight count at Ontario by 25% and seat capacity by 66%.

Ontario International Airport has been named the second most popular medium-sized airport by J.D. Power, serving over 7 million passengers annually and offering direct flights to more than 20 major airports in the United States, Mexico, Central America, and Taiwan. The airport is owned and operated by the Ontario International Airport Authority, a joint powers agreement between the City of Ontario and San Bernardino County.
