en.Wedoany.com Reported - Moran Towing announced the completion of its acquisition and integration of New Orleans-based Bisso Towboat Co. The Connecticut-based company, headquartered in New Canaan, announced the acquisition last October.

Moran has operated on the lower Mississippi River in New Orleans since 2006. Through this acquisition, Moran's fleet adds 11 tugs with an average age of 12 years and a total horsepower of 51,056. In addition to the tugs, all 78 employees of Bisso Towboat—including 61 seafarers and 17 shore-based personnel—have joined Moran.

Legacy Capital LLC and Phelps Dunbar LLP represented Bisso Towboat in the transaction.

"The completion of this integration is a significant milestone for Moran, reflecting the professionalism and dedication of both organizations," said Ted Tregurtha, President and CEO of Moran Towing. "The high standards and commitment of Bisso's employees have made this transition seamless, and we welcome them to the Moran team as we continue to strengthen our operations on the lower Mississippi River." The integration of the two companies took effect on July 1.

Scott Slatten, Strategic Advisor at Moran Towing, commented on the acquisition, noting Bisso Towboat's history dating back to 1890. "The strength of the combined organization goes far beyond fleet size or geographic reach; it is rooted in the talent, experience, and shared values of the people who drive daily operations. With this powerful combination, we are well positioned to meet the evolving needs of our customers over the long term. We are proud of what Bisso has achieved over 135 years and are confident that this legacy will continue under the Moran name."

According to Moran Towing's announcement, Bisso Towboat's customers will see no impact on service, schedules, or contracts, and the original vessels and crews remain unchanged. Bisso Towboat's headquarters in New Orleans will continue to serve as Moran's operational base. The former Bisso Towboat fleet and operations will be integrated into Moran's network, which covers 17 ports and 7 LNG terminals along the East Coast and Gulf Coast.

Founded in 1860, Moran Towing also provides environmental and industrial, commercial diving, and marine engineering construction services in addition to maritime services. The vessels involved in the acquisition include: Mr. Brian (built 2024), Alma S. (2006), Andrew S. (2019), Becky S. (2015), Cecilia B. Slatten (1999), Capt. Joseph Bisso (2022), Liz Healy (2017), Michael S. (2009), Mr. Ruben (2016), William S. (2012), and Allison S. (1994).
