en.Wedoany.com Reported - AI startup Sakana AI has selected Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform as the infrastructure for its multi-agent system, Sakana Fugu. Google Cloud Japan published a case study on June 29 detailing the collaboration.

Sakana Fugu is a multi-agent system that selects or combines multiple AI models based on task difficulty, comprising two types: Fugu, which prioritizes inference speed, and Fugu Ultra, which offers high performance. In certain tasks, Fugu Ultra claims to outperform AI models from the US company Anthropic, such as Claude Mythos Preview and Claude Fable 5.
In the mechanism orchestrating multiple models, Google Cloud was chosen as the infrastructure. Sakana AI stated that since the company was primarily founded by engineers from Google and Google DeepMind, adopting Google Cloud was a natural progression. Chi Sun, who designed the infrastructure for Sakana Fugu, commented that Google Cloud is a high-quality and stable infrastructure, offering managed services capable of coordinating multiple models.
Chi Sun also mentioned that Sakana Fugu consists of three layers—the frontend layer, the intermediate processing layer, and the model layer—and that the availability of all necessary tools for building each layer was another reason for its adoption.
In the frontend layer, the network security feature Google Cloud Armor and the AI model and agent protection feature Model Armor safeguard models against improper inputs or DDoS attacks. User authentication and protection, as well as API key management, are handled through the web application development platform Firebase.
The intermediate processing layer handles tasks such as model invocation, log and cache processing, and writing data to the data warehouse BigQuery.
The model layer combines multiple models to generate responses based on input queries. Models from companies such as Google (US), OpenAI (US), and Anthropic are invoked via the serverless execution environment Cloud Run and the AI platform Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (formerly Vertex AI).
