en.Wedoany.com Reported - At the Second Meeting of Mayors and Entrepreneurs of the Northern Capricorn Dual-Ocean Corridor, Salta Province reaffirmed its highway and industrial infrastructure investment plan, with the core goal of integrating the northern production axis with international routes to Chile, Paraguay, and Bolivia to promote mining and commercial development. The meeting was held at the Vespucio Camp, with Economy Minister Roberto Dib Ashur and Production and Mining Minister Ignacio Lupión leading the presentation of major projects.

One of the key announcements of the meeting involved the connection with Paraguay. The provincial government confirmed that it already has the necessary funds to advance the section of Provincial Route 54 connecting to Misión La Paz. Once the neighboring country completes the current international bridge construction, tenders for supplementary works will be launched. The logistics optimization plan for northern Salta also includes strengthening the infrastructure of the Salvador Mazza border checkpoint to accelerate trade with Bolivia, renovating and repaving multiple critical sections of National Route 34, planning interventions at the Güemes node, enhancing the value and refunctionalizing the General Mosconi Industrial Park to attract new investments, and opening a new campus of UPATecO (Provincial University of Administration, Technology, and Vocational Training) at the Vespucio Camp to train the local workforce.
For the mining sector, the key point on the agenda remains optimizing the route connecting the Puna mining region to international markets via ports in northern Chile. Authorities confirmed the continued progress of the strategic project on National Route 51, a crucial passage to the Sico Pass. The plan also includes integrating the Metán-Rosario de la Frontera section of National Route 9/34, fully incorporating southern Salta Province into the Dual-Ocean logistics network. According to industry reports, the full operation of the Sico Pass and the pending construction works on National Route 51 have been repeatedly highlighted by business associations as key factors to significantly enhance the competitiveness of lithium and metal mining projects in the Salta Puna. Major planned works include Provincial Route 54 connecting to Misión La Paz, with funds already secured and tenders to follow after the international bridge is completed; National Route 51 leading to the Sico Pass for Puna mining transport; the Metán-Rosario de la Frontera section of National Route 9/34 incorporating the southern part of the province into the corridor network; and interventions and renovations on National Route 34 and at Güemes for northern connections and road sections at the central logistics node.
Through this portfolio combining highway infrastructure, border crossings, and industrial services, Salta seeks to ultimately consolidate itself as the logistics core of the Capricorn Corridor, transforming its geographical location into a direct competitive advantage for the region.
