en.Wedoany.com Reported - European mining equipment company Aramine, in collaboration with automation technology firm sensmore, has jointly launched the Aramac L140B autonomous underground LHD. This integrated intelligent mining equipment has been officially deployed at Germany's CEMEX Rüdersdorf limestone underground mine, achieving unmanned and integrated mass production for underground LHD operations.

The L140B LHD is a fully electric underground equipment launched by Aramine in 2016, specifically designed for narrow-vein and confined tunnel mining conditions. It has a rated load capacity of 1.3 tons and features flexible maneuverability, strong adaptability, and stable operational efficiency. The equipment comes with an open electronic control system, allowing direct adaptation for automation retrofitting without the need for extensive hardware modifications. Powered by batteries, the machine achieves zero local carbon emissions during operation.

This intelligent upgrade was supported by sensmore, which provided the full core technology. Unlike traditional single-machine autonomous driving models, this retrofit achieved deep integration across the entire production chain. The technical team fully connected the autonomous LHD with the mine equipment control system, belt conveyor system, safety protection system, underground network, and production scheduling process, establishing an integrated intelligent operation system. Field application data shows that the autonomous LHD can operate continuously for up to 8 hours without human intervention, significantly improving effective operation time compared to the 5 hours under manual operation mode. Unmanned operations completely eliminate safety risks such as rockfalls, dust, and confined space work underground.

CEMEX mine stated that the deployment of the L140B autonomous LHD marks an important milestone in advancing safe, efficient, and low-carbon underground production. A sensmore representative noted that the core value of mine automation lies in deep integration into industrial production systems, and the fully integrated unmanned mining solution signifies that underground intelligent mining has moved from conceptual exploration to the industrialization stage.

Europe is currently advancing the self-sufficiency of key local raw materials while facing challenges such as a shortage of skilled underground workers and strict safety production regulations. This narrow-vein electric unmanned LHD solution offers significant reference value for the intelligent retrofitting of small and medium-sized non-metallic underground mines, such as limestone and calcite mines, in China.
