en.Wedoany.com Reported - CMA CGM Chairman and CEO Rodolphe Saadé said he is open to the possibility of spinning off logistics division CEVA Logistics and eventually listing it, a move that would mark a strategic shift for the company. Speaking at an event in Le Havre, the executive made the remarks when asked by Bloomberg whether he would separate and list the group's logistics business.

The comments came a day after CMA CGM announced it had reached an agreement to acquire certain logistics operations of FedEx and expand cooperation between the two companies in the air and sea freight markets. Saadé made it clear that before evaluating any potential listing decision, the priority is to integrate the newly acquired business. "We need to integrate this new business, ensure it runs smoothly, and then we will see," he noted.
Since taking the helm of CMA CGM in 2017, Rodolphe Saadé has driven a deep transformation of the group. Leveraging record profits during the pandemic, the shipping company has evolved from focusing solely on maritime transport into a diversified conglomerate spanning logistics, port terminals, air freight, media, and satellite sectors. The expansion of the logistics business is one of the main pillars of this strategy. In 2019, CMA CGM acquired CEVA Logistics, and later completed the acquisition of Bolloré SE's logistics division in a deal valued at approximately $59 billion, one of the largest acquisitions in the group's history. Thanks to these investments, the logistics division generated $18.3 billion in revenue in 2025, accounting for about one-third of CMA CGM's total turnover.
If CEVA Logistics successfully goes public, investors will gain access to a business with lower volatility than container shipping, which has historically been characterized by pronounced boom-and-bust cycles. With a fleet of over 700 vessels, CMA CGM plans to become the world's second-largest container shipping company by the end of 2027, surpassing Maersk and trailing only Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).
